Tropical North Queensland is the jewel of the pacific and if you are lucky enough to get married here, you are in for a visual treat. There are actually thousands of stunning wedding photo locations in the tropical north from Cairns to Port Douglas and up to Mossman and Daintree. They range from long empty beaches to busy cityscapes, from clear tropical streams to cosmopolitan resorts. Let us however make our photographic journey a practical one and go with just seven that are in public places that any wedding party can go to for the very best in wedding photography. Here we go.
The view across the inlet to the cloud capped mountains is stunning. As a backdrop it’s hard to beat. Photos taken at the old clock tower wharf have the added bonus of a rustic old building to bring some charm to your wedding photos.
The tree lined paths on the esplanade near the lagoon feature warm light and long shadows as sunset approaches. Photos of newlyweds strolling hand in hand along the pathways are both beautiful and natural.
Adding a touch of charm with the old railway station is a real treat. Get permission and you can stroll around the station taking in the old verandahs and gardens. If you get lucky the Kuranda train may just come along. Also make a short stop at the old saw mill down the road. It’s certainly worth it.
It must be one of the most sort after views. A lucky bride and groom playing in the waters of gorgeous Palm Cove Beach is a common sight most days of the year. Both the tree lined southern end the jetty and rocks at the northern end of the beach are worth spending some time at. If you are lucky enough to have access to one of the many 5 star resorts, then you can round off your beach side wedding photos with some beautiful around a resort.
The iconic wharf near St Mary’s by the Sea chapel is a place you just want to slow down and watch the boats come in and the clouds gathering over distant mountains. Then again maybe not, because it’s your wedding day and the old sugar wharf sets the stage for the most breathtaking wedding photography location you can imagine. Both the white lines of the old weatherboard warehouse and the views are perfect for great photos.
The marina area is both a shopping centre and the main boating marina. It’s really worth exploring and you’ll be rewarded with fun photos inside amongst the colour of the shops and romantic photos outside with a flotilla of boats as your backdrop. There is also an old train station in the same area to add variety to your photos.
The world’s oldest rainforest is a huge location and you are sure to find many intimate and beautiful locations for romantic and casual photos. The Daintree village offers some old charm as do the many water holes, rives and beaches.
