We live in Brisbane currently however both grew up on the Atherton Tablelands. We decided to go back closer to home and have our wedding up north under a beautiful waterfall at the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas.
We did not have a wedding planner however Jessica Lawler worked to coordinate our every wish at the Sheraton. There was no specific theme for the wedding other then we wanted the wedding to be elegant and traditional in a beautiful location. We chose NQ for our location mainly for as mentioned before its spectacular beauty. We both think North Queensland is truly paradise. Other draw cards for NQ was that we wanted to go back to our roots and to our family - most of which live around Cairns and the Atherton Tablelands.
Our favorite memories include walking on the beach after the wedding when the boys (and some of the girls) were smoking cigars. The weather had cooled and we were all so happy and amongst the fantastic company of the friends and family who we love so much. My favourite memory is how nervous she felt for the hour before the wedding but how all of the butterflies in her tummy flew away as soon as she was standing in front of adrian at the ceremony - it was like nothing else mattered (corny i know).
There are so many beautiful photos it is hard to choose.. it would have to be a tie between one of us in the rainforest standing on a precarious piece of wood over a creek with my maid of honour holding my dress out of the water.. and one of us leaning over the piano sharing a moment with my oldest brother pretending to play the piano with a very cheeky grin on his face.
We honeymooned in spectacular Krabi, Thailand. A location and week that we will never forget.
While in NQ we were happy to show it off to our overseas visitors. In Cairns we showed them around the cairns beaches, the city and the lagoon. On the tablelands we visited the crater, the curtain fig tree and Lake eacham. It was a beautiful day.
We would not change anything about the day. It was perfect (the weather even behaved and it stopped raining at about 12pm for the wedding at 3).
